What is aapi affinity Night?

AAPI is an acronym that stands for Asian American & Pacific Islander and May is AAPI Heritage Month. An Affinity Night is an event specifically for audience members who share a particular identity, often members of a historically marginalized or underrepresented group. Affinity Nights are becoming increasingly common in theaters and other artistic spaces. Our AAPI Affinity Night is a performance of GORGEOUS specifically designed for audience members of the AAPI community to enjoy the show together and build community. The purpose is to create a welcoming and safe space for a historically underrepresented group, ensuring they feel seen, valued, and included in the theatrical experience.

What can I expect when attending aapi affinity Night?

The intention behind this performance is to provide a supportive, safe, judgment-free space for Asian American and Pacific Islander theatregoers to experience a show in a space reserved for the AAPI community. The audience will be comprised of a majority of AAPI identifying audience members.

Are you excluding non-Asian people from attending this performance?

The intention for this performance is to create a space for as many AAPI audience members as possible. We are not preventing or precluding anyone from attending, but hope that non-Asian audience members will choose to experience the play at another performance. We thank you in advance for supporting these artists and Raven as we facilitate an opportunity for a community to celebrate and enjoy this special event.
