“Our 24/25 Season showcases several tremendous plays that I am excited to bring to Raven. Our season includes the emotional- and witty- Chicago premiere of Martyna Majok’s IRONBOUND, a reimagined revival of Sam Shepards’ A LIE OF THE MIND – whose work I’ve been wanting to produce for decades- and finally, the world premiere of GORGEOUS by Keiko Green, in co-production with Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, bringing some comedy to our stage next spring.

In ushering in this new era of Raven Theatre, we are trying something new with the addition of two limited engagements. The first being Philip Dawkins’ THE COMEDIANS–  which is the first staging of this Audible commission– and our second engagement, one very dear to me, Chicago Children’s Theatre’s THE BEATRIX POTTER TEA PARTY. Bringing family programming back to our stage is essential to our mission of connecting people to culture. We are also debuting new subscriptions and perks that will help ensure we can continue to provide the quality of work you enjoy on our stage.

Alongside our own programming, we will partner with several theatrically-rooted organizations to bring a variety of offerings to our space. Notably, we are expanding and re-vamping our residency program in partnership with The Story Theatre, who will be in residence at Raven for the next two years.

Loosely based on the life and death of playwright Terry Guest’s Uncle Anthony, At the Wake of a Dead Drag Queen is a one-act, two-hander play set in 2004 that centers Blackness, southern queerness, and the fine art of drag. From African gods and goddesses to Trina and Whitney Houston, At the Wake of a Dead Drag Queen thoughtfully uses storytelling, drama and drag to explore identity, illness, and the narratives we construct for ourselves. Come party at the wake. Bring your own heels!

• WHAT SHOWS DO SUBSCRIPTIONS COVER & WHO CAN USE MY TICKETS?
  Our season subscriptions cover the three main stage shows in our season (IRONBOUND, A LIE OF THE MIND, and GORGEOUS). While the subscriptions don’t cover limited engagements or resident/visiting shows, the PLUS and FLEX subscribers get a 10% discount on all valid shows. Once a subscription is purchased, subscribers can use their tickets for themselves and any guests.

• WHAT ABOUT THE PREVIEW PLUS & UNDER30 SUBSCRIPTIONS?
  Raven’s next chapter includes more shows, more community, more engagements, more events, and more… more! A new structure calls for a new subscription model, while still having an option for folks to save on tickets while supporting Raven Theatre. Don’t worry, Preview Tickets and other discounts will still be available, though limited.

  Raven is dedicated to increasing pay for our artists and investing in improving the audience experience. While this means our overall subscription prices will go up, BUT our “base” subscription (formerly the Anytime Subscription) remains the same price!

• AREN’T SUBSCRIPTIONS OUTDATED? WHY NOT JUST BUY A TICKET?
  Our industry (and Raven) is no stranger to adapting to economic and societal shifts. This season we are making small changes as we adapt to our big goals. However, single-ticket buyers won’t be able to purchase tickets until one month before the show. Between early access, discounts, and sold-out shows, subscribing is the way to go!
