Raven Theatre tells stories of today and the past that connect us to our cultural landscape. Raven’s commitment to modern drama in all its forms—as well as its first-class education programming—have helped it remain a cultural cornerstone on the north side of Chicago for 41 years and counting. Raven has proudly been a destination for theatre and arts education on Chicago’s north side. Raven was founded in March of 1983 and remained itinerant until August of 1985 when it moved to a storefront location in Rogers Park. Eventually, the theatre moved to its permanent home in Edgewater in 2002. Once a grocery store, the building now boasts the 85-seat Johnson Stage, the 57-seat Schwartz Stage, and administrative offices. Historically, Raven has produced revivals, but in recent years has incorporated world and regional premieres in order to highlight up-and-coming playwrights in today’s theatre community.
