Isabella Coelho

ISABELLA COELHO (She/Her) is a Chicago based actor, puppeteer, and theatre educator. Her work as a teaching artist has spanned all over Chicago creating original programming and directing student performed work with organizations including Raven Theatre, Creative Root, Filament Theatre , Emerald City Theatre, Act Two at St. Paul’s and more. Isabella proudly serves as the Head of Education and Curriculum Development at Chicago Music and Acting Academy, and she has been a resident teaching artist at Free Street Theater since 2013 where she helms the Park Kids program as well as created capsule programming with the Chicago Park District and The Boys and Girls Club of West Pullman. As a performer, she has worked with Nashville Children’s Theatre, Broadway in Chicago, Lifeline Theatre, Raven Theatre, Commission Theatre, Cock and Bull Theatre, Filament Theatre, and Birch House Immersive.  Isabella is a graduate of the Theatre School at DePaul University.

What are you most excited about for Peter Pan?
“I cannot wait to travel to Neverland and discover how we can bring all its magic and mystery to life! There are pirates! Characters can fly! How can we put that on stage?”

What are you most excited about for Greek Mythology?
Stories about Greek Myths are EPIC! I cannot wait to see how we can make a performance that matches the powerful scale of those stories and bring the ancient world onto our stage!

What’s your favorite thing about summer camp?
“As a former Summer Camp kid myself, my absolute favorite memories have always been the friendships and communities that I cherish to this day!”

How would you describe your style when making a show during summer camp?
“When creating a summer camp show, my focus is all about group collaboration and creation. If two heads are better than one, a whole ensemble of creative minds is even better!”

Favorite summer activity//Ice Cream Flavor?
“For me, it wouldn’t be Chicago Summer without a trip to Lake Michigan to catch up with friends, swim, and people watch!”
